Head of Design

We’re looking for an experienced Head of Design to lead our in-house Footwear & Accessories Design team at Russell & Bromley. This role will oversee the full design process from initial concept to final product, ensuring our collections represent the brand’s DNA while staying ahead of trends. You’ll collaborate closely with the Creative Director, mentoring the team to produce innovative collections that resonate with our customers. The ideal candidate will have exceptional leadership skills, extensive design experience, and a passion for creating world-class footwear and accessories.

About the Role

  • Lead the Footwear & Accessories design team from concept through to finished product.
  • Collaborate closely with the Creative Director to drive the design vision, ensuring collections align with brand identity and market demands.
  • Research and incorporate seasonal trends, creating innovative collections that excite our customers.
  • Oversee the development of concept boards, colour palettes, material sourcing, and product development in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Manage the design team’s workloads and critical deadlines, ensuring timely delivery of collections.
  • Provide mentorship and constructive feedback to the design team, fostering a positive and creative environment.
  • Work with the product team to ensure designs meet budget and margin targets.
  • Present design concepts to senior leadership and contribute to business strategy discussions.
  • Visit factories and attend trade fairs as required, ensuring products meet high-quality standards.

About You

  • 7-10 years of footwear and accessories design experience, ideally within a luxury or premium brand.
  • A degree in Footwear Design or related discipline is preferred.
  • Strong leadership experience, with a proven ability to manage and mentor creative teams.
  • Expertise in Adobe Suite and other creative platforms.
  • Experience managing in-house design teams and delivering collections on time and within budget.
  • Exceptional organisational and project management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communicator, able to collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners.
  • Strong knowledge of global markets, trends, and materials.

Additional Requirements

  • Domestic and international travel to factories and trade fairs will be required.
  • Flexibility to work outside office hours when necessary.

About You

  • • A minimum of one year’s experience in a Business Analysis, project, or technical role
  • • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders
  • • Experience in a full project lifecycle with business analysis techniques
  • • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • • Awareness of change management principles

Merchandiser (Maternity Cover)

We’re looking for an experienced Merchandiser to lead planning, analysis, and stock management, driving the brand’s commercial strategy. You’ll manage WSSI, OTB, and delivery schedules, ensuring optimal stock availability across e-commerce and retail channels. Collaborating cross-functionally with buying, retail, marketing, and logistics teams, you’ll lead seasonal planning, sales analysis, and trade meetings to optimise performance. This role requires strong analytical skills, strategic thinking, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

About the Role

  • Understand the brand's top-line strategy and align merchandising goals accordingly.
  • Drive seasonal planning processes, translating lessons learnt into balanced sales and option plans based on pricing, end-use, and phasing.
  • Prepare and present department KPIs during Monday Trade meetings.
  • Update WSSI, OTB, sales, intake, and margin at product and line-flow levels.
  • Collate monthly lessons learnt, promotional analysis, product performance, and strategic insights to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Manage delivery schedules to align with intake forecasts.
  • Work with suppliers and the Allocations Team to ensure timely stock delivery and allocation across e-commerce and retail channels.
  • Oversee in-season stock availability across all channels.
  • Develop markdown proposals by style and store to achieve KPIs and mitigate risks.
  • Collaborate with the Buying Team on new season and campaign launches, providing updates on performance vs. plans.
  • Build strong relationships with teams in online, retail, buying, marketing, logistics, and finance to meet business needs.
  • Attend critical path meetings and support cross-departmental initiatives.
  • Set objectives for the Merchandise Assistant, review progress through regular 1:1s, and guide their career development.
  • Manage and prioritise the day-to-day workload of the Merchandise Assistant.
  • Work with the Buyer to drive the seasonal category strategy, including sales, buy, and option plans.
  • Support in-season range planning decisions and provide input during buy meetings and sign-offs.
  • Challenge current processes and bring fresh ideas to improve efficiency and performance.

About You

  • Proven experience in creating and executing strategies.
  • Previous experience in fashion merchandising is highly desirable.
  • Strong expertise in range planning.
  • Demonstrated ability in forecasting and managing OTB.
  • Excellent PC skills, with proficiency in relevant software and tools.
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Merchandise Assistant

As a Merchandise Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the Merchandising team by creating key business reports, managing delivery schedules, and maintaining line cards on core styles. You’ll assist with analysing sales data, identifying trends, and resolving stock or supply chain issues to drive availability and optimise customer outcomes. By improving processes, collaborating with teams, and completing tasks efficiently, you’ll contribute to delivering insightful trade summaries and enhancing overall performance.

About the Role

  • Creating key business reports to support the Merchandising team in completing core tasks.
  • Working with the Merchandising team to review how we can improve efficiency by refining processes and increasing automation.
  • Completing key admin tasks quickly and accurately to ensure the best possible customer outcomes.
  • Supporting the team in analysing sales data to identify trends and performance insights.
  • Managing the Delivery Schedule in collaboration with the Buying Assistant.
  • Monday Trade; Generating and maintaining reports on Bestsellers, Slow Sellers, Mid-Week sales, and any supporting information needed for trade meetings
  • Assisting in preparing weekly and quarterly sales performance summaries.
  • Assisting in resolving any stock or supply chain issues promptly.
  • Responsible for departmental analysis, including identifying best and worst performers, lessons learnt, and store analysis.
  • Managing Linecards for core styles.
  • Collaborating with the Allocations team to drive optimum availability both online and in shops; proposing actions and flagging issues to the Merchandiser.
  • Conducting competitor analysis.
  • Visiting stores and providing feedback.
  • Preparing the Lessons Learnt Pack in collaboration with the Buying team.

About You

  • Strong numeracy and analytical skills.
  • Advanced Excel experience required.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to work to deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Commercially minded, proficient in reading, interpreting, and analysing numerical data.
  • Clear, effective written and spoken communication skills.
  • Well-organised with an eye for detail
  • Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team, and build effective working relationships
